NINAZ (SABRINA BÉGIN TEJEDA)

Issue d’une famille d’artistes, je suis depuis toujours sensibilisée par ce vaste univers qui vite est devenu ma forteresse. Depuis aussi loin que je me souvienne, la création est vitale, viscérale pour mon équilibre et mon bien-être. C’est lors de mes premiers voyages en République Dominicaine, en visite à ma famille maternelle que la peinture est arrivée dans ma vie. Ma passion pour celle-ci m’a été transmise dès mon jeune âge par mon grand-père qui se revitalisait grâce à ses toiles colorés, chaleureuses, bien inscrites dans la culture des Caraïbes. Je me sens aujourd’hui, à mon tour, profondément liée et inspirée par mon pays d’origine ; ses odeurs, ses couleurs, sa musique, sa passion et la mer profonde qui tempère son feu. Mon travail est vibrant, intense et coloré tout comme celui que faisait mon grand-père, fier de rendre hommage à sa culture et ses racines. J’ai cheminé et chemine depuis toujours principalement de façon autodidacte dans ma pratique artistique, bien que j’aie été initiée au dessin et à la peinture par des cours privés dès l’âge de huit ans et que j’ai fréquenté le programme d’Arts visuels du cégep du Vieux Montréal en 2014. C’est seulement depuis l’année 2019 que je partage mon art au monde en m’assumant en tant qu’artiste-peintre émergeante bien que je sois d’abord reconnue comme étant comédienne, métier que je pratique professionnellement depuis 2016. Mon intégration au programme Essor de Travail Sans Frontières en 2018, ainsi que mon intégration à la galerie le Carré des Artistes à Montréal, Griffintown, en 2019 ont été mes premiers pas dans cette direction. J’ai présenté ma 1ère exposition solo à cette dernière galerie en août 2019, après avoir participé ponctuellement, au cours des années précédentes, aux expositions collectives des deux « Art Party » de 2017, qui ont eu lieu à Montréal, et finalement, à l’édition
« Commun ’Art » de 2019 parue aussi dans cette même métropole. Depuis, j’ai déménagé dans la merveilleuse campagne de l’Estrie, suite à mon passage à l’École Nationale de théâtre du Canada en 2019-2020 et ma formation complétée comme praticienne en chamanisme en 2022. Ce nouveau départ m’offre tout l’espace dont je rêvais pour créer en conscience, bercée et propulsée par la nature abondante de mon nouveau chez-moi et ainsi m’épanouir en tant qu’artiste multidisciplinaire.

Originating from a family of artists, I had always been exposed to this great environment which has quickly became my fortress. For as long as I can remember, creativity was vital, and visceral for my balance and well- being. It was while I started traveling to the Dominican Republic, to visit my maternal family, that painting came into my life. The passion for painting was instilled in me at an early age by my grandfather, whose colorful, inviting canvases were well rooted in the Caribbean culture. Today, I too feel deeply connected to and inspired by my country of origin; its scents, its colors, its music and passion and the vast ocean that tames its fire. The work I do is vibrant, deep and colorful, much like my grandfather's paintings which proudly celebrate his culture and origins. I always have been mainly self-taught in my artistic work, although I was first introduced to drawing and painting with private lessons at the tender age of eight and attended the Visual Arts program at the CEGEP du Vieux Montréal in 2014. It has only been since 2019 that I began sharing my art with the world as a emerging painter, while being primarily known as an actress, a career I have been pursuing professionally since 2016.
Joining the Essor de Travail Sans Frontières program in 2018, as well as joining the Carré des Artistes gallery in Montreal's Griffintown district in 2019 were my first steps towards this goal. I held my 1st solo exhibition at this gallery that August, after having participated on an ad hoc basis in the group shows of two "Art Parties" in 2017, and then in the 2019 Montreal "Commun 'Art" edition. I have since moved to the stunning countryside of the Eastern Townships after studying at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2019-2020, and then graduating as a shamanic practitioner in 2022. This new beginning gives me all the space I have ever dreamed of in order to create mindfully, nurtured and empowered by the bountiful nature of my new home allowing me to thrive as a multidisciplinary artist. My art is a soulful quest that portrays and celebrates the multifaceted nature of life. I find my inspiration in being able to sense the deep meaning of the human condition and capture the intricacies that result from it.
It is out of my inner drive for truth, growth and beauty that all my creations are born irrespective of the subject matter, with the only purpose of creating a sacred space of introspection for anyone who will contemplate them.
